Physics Students of FMIPA UNEJ Attend ICANSE 2024 Nuclear Conference at ITB Bandung

Physics students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Aroofi Candra Kartiko, M. Khanifuddin Zuhri, A’isyah Rizqi Amaliyah, and Nurul Kholifah got the opportunity to attend the International Conference on Advances in Nuclear Science and Engineering (ICANSE) 2024. Held in the East Hall of ITB, Ganesha Campus, Bandung, four Physics students attended a series of events and presented their research results during their time at Physics, FMIPA UNEJ, to be published in international journals and proceedings indexed by Scopus. The ICANSE event held on 2-4 September 2024 required physics students to follow the registration process, starting from submitting abstracts to submitting full papers.

“An extraordinary experience participating in ICANSE 2024 and will be a motivation for other Physics students to continue learning and be enthusiastic in research to increase their insight and contribution to science in the future,” said Aroofi Candra Kartiko. At ICANSE 2024, the Lomonosov academic was introduced by ROSATOM as the first floating nuclear power plant in the world. Also discussed was the knowledge of mapping safe areas to establish NPPs in Indonesia and plans to utilize nuclear as low-carbon energy in the future. The FMIPA envoy also had the opportunity to meet and discuss with Prof. Dr. Eng. Zaki Su’ud (ITB Physics Professor in the field of nuclear reactors) regarding further studies and research collaborations. Continue reading

Ahmad Haris Rasidi, FMIPA Physics Student Passes Selection to Participate in BRIN Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System Workshop

The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) held a workshop on the use of the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System, or EPICS, program at the Ahmad Baiquni Building, Babarsari, Yogyakarta, from June 10 to 14, 2024. The theme of the workshop was “Development of EPICS-Based Instrumentation and Control Systems in Accelerator Research Facilities.” The material was delivered by Dr. Keerati Manasatitpong and Mr. Natthawut Suradet from the Thai Research Institute (SLRI), or Synchrotron Light Research Institute. BRIN is collaborating with the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) to organize the workshop.

To take part in the workshop, participants from universities in the country are given the opportunity to take part in the selection stage after registering. After being declared successful, Ahmad Haris Rasidi, a student from the Physics Department at FMIPA UNEJ, received an invitation to the EPICS workshop along with accommodation which was fully borne by BRIN. “I will take advantage of this golden opportunity to learn more about the EPICS program in industrial control systems,” he said. Haris hopes that there will be a lot of new knowledge that can be brought back to Jember after attending the workshop, of course valuable experience during the five days of training. 20 UNEJ Students take part in the 2024 ONMIPA-PT Regional Level Selection at FMIPA University of Jember

Located in Mathematics Laboratory 1 and 2, Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UNEJ, regional-level selection was held for the Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (ONMIPA-PT) 2024 (24–25/4). “20 of our students from FMIPA, FKIP, and FK are fighting to get a place to compete at the national level at Hasanuddin University in May 2024,” said Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. PIC ONMIPA-PT UNEJ, and Vice Dean III FMIPA UNEJ. UNEJ delegates took part in online selection according to the fields being contested, namely mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry. “For readiness, system testing and tryouts were previously carried out on April 18-19,” he continued.

According to Abduh Riski, S.Si., M.Si, as the supervisor of the ONMIPA-PT UNEJ delegation, the participants who took part in the regional-level selection were the results of the selection on March 8. “These twenty participants are the result of university-level selection carried out previously at the UNEJ entrepreneurship building and then took part in intensive coaching on March 25–31,” he explained. It was also announced that five students per field would take part in the selection for two days online. Support was also provided by the UNEJ student affairs department by procuring equipment and UPA TIK via a capable internet network for this selection activity. Continue reading

Physics Master Study Program, FMIPA University of Jember Achieves UNGGUL Accreditation Predicate from LAMSAMA

Good news is here again for the FMIPA academic community at Jember University. Physics Master Study Program, FMIPA University of Jember  achieved UNGGUL accreditation. Contained in the decision of the Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) Number 022/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/M/IV/2024 dated April 1, 2024. The achievement of this superior accreditation is very encouraging for the Physics Masters Study Program and also for all residents of FMIPA UNEJ. This is because some time ago the Biology Masters Study Program FMIPA also achieved UNGGUL accreditation, so there are already 4 study programs at the FMIPA University of Jember that have successfully achieved accreditation with a UNGGUL rating from LAMSAMA..

The success of the Physics Master’s Study Program is an effort made by all parties. The Physics Master’s Study Program, through its accreditation team, prepares forms, supported by lecturers, students, alumni, and other stakeholders working together to achieve the title of UNGGUL accreditation. Jember University leadership also plays a role and supports the LAMSAMA accreditation process, which is carried out by all work units within UNEJ. During the field assessment, Vice Rector I of UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., was present to accompany the field assessment process by delivering a presentation about the profile of University of Jember. Continue reading

LAMSAMA Accreditation Field Assessment of Master of Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University

The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team held a field assessment of the accreditation of the FMIPA UNEJ Physics Master’s Study Program. Vice Chancellor I University of Jember Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., together with Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achamd Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompany the assessor team at the opening of the field assessment (22/02). The assessor team consists of Prof. Dr. Mitrayana, S.Si., MSi., from Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta and Prof. Drs. Triyanta, M.S., Ph.D., from Institut Teknologi Bandung.

Vice Chancellor UNEJ Prof. Slamin delivered a presentation on the University of Jember Profile. In his presentation, the vision and mission, faculty, postgraduate studies, study programs, teaching staff, educational staff, and active students at UNEJ were presented, as well as UNEJ’s achievements and the direction of UNEJ’s development from 2004 to 2028. “In recent years, the accreditation of study programs with superior achievements at UNEJ has increased, in line with several achievements at national and international levels,” he explained. Prof. Tamio Oguchi from Osaka University, Japan Visits FMIPA Physics Ready to Establish Collaboration

Prof. Tamio Oguchi visited the Physics Department, FMIPA, University of Jember to carry out research collaboration with Dr. Artoto Arkundato through the Applied Materials and Energy Computing Research Group (18/9). Prof. Tamio Oguchi from the Center for Spintronics Research Network (CSRN) OSAKA University Japan at the start of the visit met with the leadership of FMIPA UNEJ to discuss collaboration while enjoying authentic coffee from Japan. “It is an honor for us to have a visit from Prof. Tamio Oguchi from Japan so that in the future we can explore collaboration with FMIPA,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D.

Next, Prof. Oguchi met the head of the Physics Department headed by Dr Agus Suprianto together with physics lecturers led by Dra. Arry Yuariatun Nurhayati, M.Si. discussing CSRN at Osaka University. For your information, Prof. Tamio Oguchi has come several times to the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Physics Department on a guest lecture agenda in 2018 and was the keynote speaker at the 2021 International Conference on Physical Instrumentation and Advanced Materials (ICPIAM). “Prof. Ogochi has become more familiar with us because he has come several times, it’s time for us “discuss more massively about CSRN, so that it can have a good impact on all of us,” said Dr. Artoto Arkundato.
