A Delegation of Mathematics Students from the FMIPA UNEJ, Participated in the 2025 SATRIA DATA Competition.

Mathematics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ) participated in the 2025 Statistika Ria dan Festival Sains Data (SATRIA DATA) National Statistics Competition (NSC) in the Master’s Room of the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jakarta (15/9). Six students participated, and they had to solve extensive statistical problems and analyze data carefully to provide appropriate solutions. During the competition, they were accompanied by Mathematics Department lecturers Firda Fadri, S.Si., M.Si., and Nadia Kholifia, S.Si. M.Si. SATRIA DATA participants had to solve problems on probability theory, statistical theory/mathematical statistics, and categorical data analysis. “The preliminary round was conducted online with a CBT model plus supervision via the zoom application using participants’ mobile phones,” explained Firda.

After the NSC, the BDC competition field group was given mentoring to achieve good data accuracy. Given three opportunities to upload data, and compete closely with groups at other universities, it is expected to be able to process data with high accuracy. Mathematics students also participated in SATRIA DATA 2025 in other fields, namely the Statistics Essay Competition (SEC), Statistics Infographic Competition (SIC), and Big Data Competition (BDC). This year SATRIA DATA was organized by the Belmawa Directorate, Kemdiktisaintek in collaboration with the Islamic University of Indonesia. Vice Dean III of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. said that the annual SATRIA DATA agenda will always be supported and there will be mentoring from competent lecturers. “We will support SATRIA DATA from mentoring to supporting facilities, so that our students excel at the national level,” he said

For your information, SATRIA DATA is a manifestation of the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the development of statistical science and data science in general. Not only that, this activity is also expected to be able to trigger the establishment of a collaborative network between universities and their applied industries. This activity is in the form of a competition that measures student abilities in the fields of statistics, data science, and their applications. SATRIA DATA is a national-scale activity consisting of three groups of activities, namely Insight Development in the form of a national seminar, Competition Activities such as those participated by FMIPA mathematics students, and Credit Earning through interactive lectures, discussions, and assignments, with a Problem Solving approach.

Not only hard skills in Statistics and Data Science will be competed, but also soft skills such as communication, visualization, collaboration, and creativity in solving complex problems. SATRIA DATA 2025 is an event to train students to become statisticians and data scientists to be ready to enter the world of work. Students who have talent are given mentoring, in addition to the SATRIA DATA competition, this will be their provision to enter the industrial world in the future. In addition to the two lecturers, there are also mathematics lecturers who provide mentoring, namely Dr. Mohamat Fatekurohman, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr. Alfian Futuhul Hadi, S.Si., M.Si.
