Faishol Amir, S.Si., M.E. Invite FMIPA UNEJ Graduates to Have Confidence in Facing the World of Work

Faishol Amir, S.Si., M.E. alumni of the 2005 FMIPA Mathematics Department, was present to provide motivation to FMIPA UNEJ graduates at the alumni sharing event (5/1). The man, who is a civil servant from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Situbondo, invited participants to develop a confident mindset for competing and succeeding in the world of work. “Instill a mindset of self-confidence to compete with other job seekers; we FMIPA alumni are ready for that,” said the BPS Young Statistician. Faishol also shared his experience when he started his career by competing with alumni of well-known universities.

It was said that FMIPA UNEJ graduates can and are able to win the competition in the world of work with maximum effort and a confident mindset. The alumni of the Brawijaya University Masters in Economics Postgraduate Program also invited alumni sharing participants not to be stingy with job vacancy information. “For me, sharing locker information does not reduce opportunities; it will actually give us lots of prayers for success,” he said. DWP FMIPA UNEJ visits Purnama Jati Production House, Sees Cassava and Edamame Tape Processing

The management of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University, led directly by the Chairperson of the DWP FMIPA, Nur Sa’dijah Achmad Sjaifullah, visited the Purnama Jati production house in the Jalan Bungur Gebang Jember area (5/1). “Through the education work program, DWP FMIPA UNEJ wants to improve the skills of its members; one way is by visiting Purnama Jati,” he said. It was further stated that DWP FMIPA members could see firsthand the process of making processed cassava and edamame tape and also learn how to start and manage a business.

Purnama Jati started his business in 2000, starting as a small household business by opening a window in front of the house. “We started the business at a young age using a display case at home; we started several cakes from processed cassava and edamame,” began the story of Mrs. Firdaus, who gave up her civil servant status to dare to become an entrepreneur. He also said that when the pandemic hit, turnover decreased, and he put his mind to work to keep the business running smoothly. And that solution comes through cookies delivered online. Good luck, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM. Rector of Jember University for the 2024-2028 period

The election for the Chancellor of the University of Jember for the 2024–2028 period was completed on January 4, 2024. Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM, was declared victorious over the other two candidates. Thus, the man who was born on October 5, 1969, continued his leadership as Chancellor of Jember University for the second time. “Congratulations and success to Mr. Iwan Taruna; hopefully he will be given smoothness and ease in leading the University of Jember for the next four years,” said Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA Jember University.

For your information, in the election for the chancellor (pilrek) of the University of Jember this period, there were 127 votes being contested. In detail, 83 Senate votes are equivalent to 65 percent of the vote, and 44 votes by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia are equivalent to 35 percent of the vote. The event took place during a closed senate meeting at the UNEJ Rectorate Building. The regional election process was short, starting at 09.00 and ending at 11.30. Increasing Potential and Resources, FMIPA UNEJ and Geopark Ijen Collaborate

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., signed a memorandum of understanding with Ijen Geopark, which was attended by Abdillah Baraas, S.T., as Chair of Ijen Geopark (5/1). “This relationship will expand the scope of cooperation that FMIPA carries out, with Ijen Geopark exchanging information and energy in various matters, especially in the environmental sector,” said the Dean of FMIPA at UNEJ. Also present at the event were two Biology Department lecturers who are also environmental activists, Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Arif Mohammad Siddiq, S.Si., M.Si., who have collaborated several times with Geopark Ijen.

There is a lot of potential in the Ijen Geopark that is very possible to explore, including biosites, geosites, and culture sites. The Dean hopes that with the signed memorandum of understanding, there will be more joint activities such as community service research, especially the student MBKM program. “Students who take MBKM can join Ijen Geopark through internships, and lecturers can collaborate on research to utilize the potential of Ijen Geopark,” he continued. FMIPA UNEJ Biology Master’s Study Program achieved the UNGGUL Accreditation Predicate from LAMSAMA

FMIPA UNEJ Biology Master’s Study Program achieved UNGGUL accreditation. It is stated in the decision of the Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) Number 140/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/M/XII/2023 dated December 28, 2023. This achievement of UNGGUL accreditation is very encouraging for the Biology Masters Study Program and also for the entire FMIPA academic community. “All of us FMIPA UNEJ residents are very grateful for this achievement; hard work produced the best results at the end of 2023,” said the Dean of FMIPA, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. The Dean also added that by the end of this year, there had been three study programs at FMIPA that had succeeded in achieving UNGGUL accreditation from LAMSAMA.

The success of the FMIPA Biology Masters Study Program is an effort made by all parties. The Biology Masters Study Program, through its accreditation team, prepares forms, supported by lecturers, students, alumni, and stakeholders working together to achieve the title of Superior Accreditation. Jember University’s leadership also plays a role in the LAMSAMA accreditation process. During the field assessment, Vice Chancellor I of UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Farewell of UiTM Students and Evaluation of Inbound Mobility Activities for Foreign Students at the University of Jember

After 4 months of participating in Inbound Mobility in Biology at FMIPA UNEJ, students from the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology at Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia took part in a farewell event and activity evaluation (28/12). The event was held by LPMPP UNEJ in the 3rd floor hall of the Mas Soerachman Building. Present were the Secretary of LPMPP, Head of the International Office, Dean of FMIPA, and Vice Dean I of FMIPA, accompanied by the Head of the Biology Study Program and supervisor. There are also other foreign students who take part in the Inbound Mobility program. On this occasion, typical Malaysian nasi lemak created by Malaysian students was served. While in Jember, they attended several lectures and work practices.

They have completed practical work at the Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao Indonesia and PT. Mitra Tani 27 Jember. Nurul Alya bint Hamdan, Wan Nur Hafizah bint Wan Mohamad Nor, Muhamad Zarul Ikhwan bin Roslan from the Agribusiness Program, and Siti Hajar Natashah bint Samsudin from the Plant Biotechnology Program also attended lectures at the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ. And was visited by the Dean of the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology (FPA), UiTM Malaysia Prof. Ts. Dr. Azhan Hashim @ Ismail, and Head of Center of Studies Dr. Zaiton Sapak last mid-November.
