A Delegation of Mathematics Students from the FMIPA UNEJ, Participated in the 2025 SATRIA DATA Competition.

Mathematics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ) participated in the 2025 Statistika Ria dan Festival Sains Data (SATRIA DATA) National Statistics Competition (NSC) in the Master’s Room of the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jakarta (15/9). Six students participated, and they had to solve extensive statistical problems and analyze data carefully to provide appropriate solutions. During the competition, they were accompanied by Mathematics Department lecturers Firda Fadri, S.Si., M.Si., and Nadia Kholifia, S.Si. M.Si. SATRIA DATA participants had to solve problems on probability theory, statistical theory/mathematical statistics, and categorical data analysis. “The preliminary round was conducted online with a CBT model plus supervision via the zoom application using participants’ mobile phones,” explained Firda.

After the NSC, the BDC competition field group was given mentoring to achieve good data accuracy. Given three opportunities to upload data, and compete closely with groups at other universities, it is expected to be able to process data with high accuracy. Mathematics students also participated in SATRIA DATA 2025 in other fields, namely the Statistics Essay Competition (SEC), Statistics Infographic Competition (SIC), and Big Data Competition (BDC). The Inauguration Ceremony Closes the 2025 PPMB Activities of the FMIPA UNEJ

Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Jember, officially closed the Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Mahasiswa Baru (PPMB) 2025 activities at the FMIPA level on September 6th. The series of events, including PKM, ONMIPA, PPK ORMAWA, PKM guidance, UKM expo at FMIPA, have concluded. “For the past two weeks, PPMB has been held every Saturday to broaden new students’ knowledge and organizational knowledge,” stated the Vice Dean III of FMIPA. He stated that PPMB will be a stepping stone for students to achieve high academic and non-academic achievements. Prof. Edy hopes that new students will excel at the national and even international levels, like one of the physics students who will participate in a prestigious international competition in Russia.

FMIPA students have won several regional and national competitions through PKM, ONMIPA, PPK, and UKM. “Your seniors have demonstrated national achievements with the PPMB material. It’s time for new students, and we are ready to support them,” he hoped. The Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences also mentioned the Dean’s message to ensure FMIPA graduates achieve a 3.5 to the power of 4. FMIPA students complete their studies in 3.5 years, earn a 3.5 GPA, have a 3.5-month waiting period, and receive a first salary of 3.5 million rupiah. Prof. Edy advised that bullying should be eliminated during the PPMB or lectures. If it occurs, report it immediately, and we will definitely follow up. Continue reading

Vice Dean III FMIPA UNEJ Opens and Appoints New Students in PPMB FMIPA UNEJ Year 2025

Located in the parking lot of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. officially opened the implementation of the Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Mahasiswa Baru (PPMB) FMIPA University of Jember in 2025 (30/8). “Welcome to FMIPA, being a student is not just to study but to have big dreams, dare to change the future,” he began. Wadek III FMIPA UNEJ said students are not just taught knowledge alone, but build character, train leadership, and grow the courage to dream sky-high. “You are born in an era full of challenges, then those who are passionate, have vision and work hard will stand at the front facing the world,” he messaged.

Wadek III also said from today make FMIPA UNEJ a place to carve the history of life, dream as high as the sky, work to the maximum, create as much as possible. “The future is on your shoulders, the hope of parents, society and the Indonesian nation, by being the golden generation to change the nation for the better,” he hoped. The welcome closed with the yel-yel FMIPA UNEJ “Create, Innovate, Achieve”. Present in the opening ceremony, Vice Dean II, Head of Department and supervising lecturers who will accompany PPMB FMIPA 2025. Vice Rector III, Chair of the Senate, and LPMPP of Jember University Monitor the Implementation of PKKMB 2025 at the FMIPA UNEJ

Dr. Fendi Setyawan, S.H., M.H., UNEJ Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, and Drs. Andang Subaharianto, M.Hum., UNEJ Senate Chair, visited the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) for the 2025 PKKMB (August 12th). Greeted by the Vice Deans of FMIPA, the Vice Rector III and Senate Chair took the opportunity to tour the PKKMB. “Take care of your health, stay fit until Saturday, when PKKMB closes. Drink plenty of water, and keep refilling your water bottles,” said the Vice Rector III to the Chemistry Class C participants. Each class was visited while inspecting the supporting facilities at FMIPA, including observing the snacks provided by the PKKMB participants.

Together with the UNEJ Student Affairs team, the Vice Rector III and Senate Chair also interacted with the 2025 PKKMB participants. For example, in Class D Biology, the Vice Rector III inquired about the facilities and infrastructure provided by FMIPA. “How comfortable is the class? Can we follow the material well? What are the activities after PKKMB?” he asked. The class was comfortable with adequate air conditioning, clear material, and a good projector. “After the event, we will prepare a collaboration for the PKKMB closing ceremony with FASILKOM,” replied a PKKMB participant. The visit also included visits to several faculties at UNEJ, accompanied by a team from the Student Affairs Division of the University of Jember. Continue reading

PKKMB FMIPA UNEJ 2025: Create, Innovate, Achieve 3.5 Ranks 4

The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Jember, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the new students of 2025 to shout the slogan at the beginning of their inauguration speech. (9/8) “Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Creating, Innovating, Achieving!!!,” said the Dean, followed by all participants in the ceremony. He said the slogan also served as a prayer that all new students would ultimately become a generation imbued with creativity, innovation, and achieve. “You all come as FMIPA students from various places, with varying levels of ability. There’s no need to feel inferior. With this slogan, let’s enthusiastically move forward together to make it happen,” he continued. The Dean also encouraged the new students to start implementing the slogan to become FMIPA graduates who achieve 3.5 to the power of 4.

This aligns with the theme of the 2025 UNEJ PKKMB, “Advancing with Impact Towards a Golden Generation,” which aligns with UNEJ’s vision to produce graduates who excel, have character, and are globally competitive. Prof. Dafik stated that the first 3.5 is to ensure FMIPA students can successfully pass their thesis exams within 3.5 years. The second is to achieve a GPA of 3.5 to compete with competitors in the job market. “The next 3.5 is the 3.5-month waiting period for FMIPA graduates to find employment, and the final 3.5 million is the first salary FMIPA graduates receive,” hoped the Dean, who was accompanied by the Vice Deans, Heads of Department Secretaries, Study Program Coordinators, Heads of Laboratories, Heads of General Affairs, and the Deputy Coordinators. Physics Master’s Student from the FMIPA UNEJ Qualifies for Female Leadership Camp [in]Visible Power in Russia

Mila Hidayatul Aula, a student in the Physics Master’s Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Jember University (UNEJ), has been selected as a full scholarship recipient for the prestigious Female Leadership Camp program “[in]Visible Power.” The global event will be held from September 21-29, 2025, in Obninsk and Moscow, Russia. “FMIPA students from the University of Jember have once again achieved impressive international achievements in the nuclear sector,” said Prof. Dr. Sutisna, S.Pd., M.Si., Head of the Physics Master’s Program, FMIPA. The program is organized by Rosatom State Corporation to support the development of professional female leadership capacity in the nuclear sector and related fields globally. The incentive training camp format is designed to help participants develop personal career strategies, broaden their professional horizons, and strengthen cross-cultural connections.

Program registration opened in early June and closes on June 27, 2025. Prof. Sutisna explained that program applicants must undergo a rigorous selection process. “It all started with filling out the application form, attaching a motivational essay, and then submitting a professional background,” he said. After the registration period closed, the committee conducted a selection process from more than 220 applications received from over 20 countries. The selection process involved assessing motivational essays and professional backgrounds. “Thank God, from that number, 50 top participants were selected, and 10 of them were awarded full scholarships, including our Master of Physics student from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (UNEJ),” he concluded.
