The Department of Physics, FMIPA, University of Jember is again holding the 4th National Physics Seminar (SENAFIS) in 2023 (7/9). Taking the theme Menjawab Tantangan Era Society 5.0 Pasca Pandemi Covid 19 we will present the keynote speakers, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rashid Bin Mohamed Sharif, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Prof. Agus Subekti, Ph.D., University of Jember, and Dede DJuhana, Ph.D., University of Indonesia. Also invited were speakers Dr. Erma Yulihastin from BRIN, Ir. Misto, M.Si., and Dr. Yuda Cahyoargo Hariadi, M.Sc., Ph.D., second, from the Physics Department, FMIPA UNEJ. SENAFIS 4 2023 was held offline in the Physics Auditorium and online via Zoom meeting.

The event was officially opened by Vice Chancellor I of the University of Jember, Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D. “Physics is the foundation, and there are famous scientists from the field of physics, so this event is very appropriate to be held as a place to share information from speakers until the parallel session later,” he said. Prof. Slamin also quoted a conversation between Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin. “What I admire most about your art is its universality. You don’t say a word, but the whole world understands you,” Einstein told Chaplin. Chaplin replied to this remark: “That’s right. But your glory is even greater! The whole world admires you, even though they don’t understand a word of what you say.”

Before becoming Chair of the 4th SENAFIS Committee in 2023, Dr. Sutisna, S.Pd., M.Sc., said that SENAFIS has been a regular biannual event since 2015. “This time SENAFIS was attended by 91 participants, with 56 of them as speakers; although it was small, the distribution of participants was quite even from several universities in Indonesia,” he explained. On the SENAFIS agenda were the leadership of FMIPA UNEJ, the Dean and Vice Deans, as well as the heads of study programs at FMIPA.

After the opening, the plenary session continued with the first speaker, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rashid Bin Mohamed Sharif from Universiti Putra Malaysia, raising the theme Adaptations and Application of Geospatial Technology in Agriculture with moderator Bowo Eko Cahyono, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., followed by the second speaker, Prof. Agus Subekti, Ph.D., from the University of Jember, with the theme Program Hilirisasi Riset di Perguruan Tinggi, suatu Keniscayaan untuk Mendukung Kebijakan Pemerintah dalam Mengelola Sumber Daya Alam, moderated by Dr. Artoto Arkundanto, S.Si., M.Si. The plenary was closed by Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., from the University of Indonesia, with the theme Micromagnetic study of the domain structure and domain-wall dynamics in ferromagnetics using micromagnetic simulation, with moderator Dr. Lutfi Rohman, S.Si., M.Si.

Followed by a parallel session, which was divided into 5 rooms, namely 3 offline rooms and 2 online rooms. Room 3 offline presents invited speaker Dr. Erma Yulihastin from BRIN with the theme Distribusi Spasial Indeks Risiko Kekeringan yang Komprehensif di Pulau Jawa with moderator Endhah Purwandari, S.Si., M.Si., Room 4 offline Ir. Misto, M.Si., delivered Eksplorasi Potensi Energi Listrik dari Mesin Aircondisioner dengan Menggunakan Thermoelectric Generator with a moderator and Room 5 Offline Drs. Yuda Cahyoargo Hariadi, M.Sc., Ph.D., as an invited speaker moderated by Dr. Mutmainnah, S.Si., M.Si. Meanwhile, the two online rooms are moderated by Drs. Imam Rofi’i, M.Sc., and Dra. Arry Yuariatun, M.Si. The event closed with the announcement of the Best Presenter from offline and online spaces.
