Gita Swara MIPA participated in the Choir Competition of Pancasila Month of Jember University 2025

The Gita Swara MIPA Choir Team participated in the Inter-Work Unit Choir Competition throughout the University of Jember at the Soejarwo Building, 5th Floor (29/6). Receiving lottery number 11, the FMIPA padsu team went up to the competition stage accompanied by the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. Together with 18 other work units, padsu performed two songs, one compulsory song Tanah Airku by Ibu Sud and the Padang Bulan regional song medley Cublak-cublak Suweng arranged by Barkah WP. Gita Swara MIPA is a choir consisting of FMIPA lecturers and educators. The choir competition is a routine agenda of the University of Jember to commemorate the Birth of Pancasila in 2025 in the series of Pancasila months which began with the flag ceremony on June 1.

Wearing black and white uniforms wrapped in simple and elegant batik cloth, they presented their best performance. Conducted by the Vice Dean II, the Padsu FMIPA Dr. Esti Utarti, S.P., M.Si. sang two songs in unison in front of the Rector, Vice Rectors and all heads of institutions at UNEJ. This performance was achieved after almost a full month of routine practice in between activities at the faculty. Accompanied by the trainer, in the afternoon the Padsu FMIPA team was trained in vocal training according to the score and movement to support the stage appearance. The day before the competition, the Padsu team conducted a stage trial or dress rehearsal to try out the stage and team positions. The committee also gave the Padsu the opportunity to practice singing two songs that would be presented the next day.

For your information, the purpose of the UNEJ Padsu competition is to recall the values ​​of Pancasila, Strengthen friendship and solidarity and provide a channel for artistic expression for the people of the University of Jember. The choir consists of 16 to 24 singers, with 1 conductor and also accompanists who can come from UNEJ or from outside UNEJ. The participants sang a compulsory song with the theme of Pancasila and a choice of folklore songs (not pop songs in regional languages). The compulsory and chosen songs were sung after being arranged with 4 voices, namely soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Especially for the chosen songs, a maximum of 2 acoustic musical instruments were allowed.

With competent judges in their fields, the criteria assessed were material, technique, delivery and appearance. The choir competition was the closing of the series of Pancasila month celebrations in 2025. The Chancellor of UNEJ officially closed this year, which this year, the competitions were held quite simply. The Pancasila month celebration committee rotates every year. In 2025, FKG had the opportunity to become the committee, next year the Chancellor of UNEJ appointed FEB as the committee according to a mutual agreement alternating the north and south sides of the UNEJ campus. And Gita Swara MIPA will return to participate in the choir event next year.
