The caretaker of Baitul Ilmi Mosque, FMIPA, University of Jember held the slaughtering of sacrificial animals on Eid al-Adha 1446 H (8/6). Together with the academic community of FMIPA, this year the caretaker slaughtered one cow and five goats. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. expressed his gratitude because this year they could again carry out the slaughtering of sacrificial animals at FMIPA. “This year, the FMIPA community together with the caretaker of the Baitul Ilmi Mosque will again slaughter sacrificial animals, I express my gratitude for the trust of the sacrifice owners in us and the committee who prepared this event,” he said. The person who slaughtered the sacrificial animals was Prof. Bayu Taruna Widjaja Putra, S.TP., M.Eng., M.Ag., Ph.D. Head of UPA TIK UNEJ who is also JULEHA (Halal Cow Slaughterer).
JULEHA is a Halal Cow Slaughterer who has expertise and dedication in slaughtering animals and ensuring the halalness of meat. With one breath, Prof. Bayu’s thrust successfully slaughtered the sacrificial cow. After the shohibul kurban was read by Dr. Bambang Piluharto as a representative of the Baitul Ilmi mosque committee. Next, the slaughtering of the sacrificial goat was accompanied by Prof. Bayu. It didn’t take long, the process of slaughtering the cow and goat was completed. The sacrificial committee with equipment immediately worked together to sort the sacrificial meat to be distributed. Vice Deans I, II, and III of FMIPA accompanied by the Head of General Affairs of FMIPA were directly involved in the process.
The Baitul Ilmi mosque committee, FMIPA residents assisted by IONS FMIPA sorted the beef and goat meat evenly. This togetherness every year adds to the solidarity of all FMIPA residents. There are those who skin, cut the sacrificial meat, break the bones of the sacrificial animals and are also tasked with weighing. “Without any special assignment, FMIPA residents and IONS students immediately worked to take part in the process of slaughtering sacrificial animals,” said Dr. Esti Utarti, Vice Dean II of FMIPA. On the other hand, FMIPA education staff prepared a meal for lunch. Previous preparations were made in the morning, wood for skinning, tarpaulin next to the FMIPA UNEJ Dean’s Building.
Before Dhuhur time arrived, all the processions were completed. Several hundred plastic bags of sacrificial animal meat were ready to be distributed. In accordance with sharia, the distribution of sacrificial meat for the sacrifice owners was led directly by the Deputy for General Affairs and BMN FMIPA Miftahul Ulum, S.KM. The sacrificial committee, in addition to being tasked with cutting and sorting the sacrificial meat, also helped distribute it. “Each committee member is asked to help distribute the sacrificial meat around their homes,” explained Mr. Ulum. After cleaning the sacrificial animal slaughter location, all committee members and participants in the sacrificial animal slaughter at FMIPA enjoyed lunch together. Happy Eid al-Adha 1446 H.
