Vice Rector III, Chair of the Senate, and LPMPP of Jember University Monitor the Implementation of PKKMB 2025 at the FMIPA UNEJ

Dr. Fendi Setyawan, S.H., M.H., UNEJ Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, and Drs. Andang Subaharianto, M.Hum., UNEJ Senate Chair, visited the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) for the 2025 PKKMB (August 12th). Greeted by the Vice Deans of FMIPA, the Vice Rector III and Senate Chair took the opportunity to tour the PKKMB. “Take care of your health, stay fit until Saturday, when PKKMB closes. Drink plenty of water, and keep refilling your water bottles,” said the Vice Rector III to the Chemistry Class C participants. Each class was visited while inspecting the supporting facilities at FMIPA, including observing the snacks provided by the PKKMB participants.

Together with the UNEJ Student Affairs team, the Vice Rector III and Senate Chair also interacted with the 2025 PKKMB participants. For example, in Class D Biology, the Vice Rector III inquired about the facilities and infrastructure provided by FMIPA. “How comfortable is the class? Can we follow the material well? What are the activities after PKKMB?” he asked. The class was comfortable with adequate air conditioning, clear material, and a good projector. “After the event, we will prepare a collaboration for the PKKMB closing ceremony with FASILKOM,” replied a PKKMB participant. The visit also included visits to several faculties at UNEJ, accompanied by a team from the Student Affairs Division of the University of Jember. Continue reading

PKKMB FMIPA UNEJ 2025: Create, Innovate, Achieve 3.5 Ranks 4

The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Jember, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the new students of 2025 to shout the slogan at the beginning of their inauguration speech. (9/8) “Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Creating, Innovating, Achieving!!!,” said the Dean, followed by all participants in the ceremony. He said the slogan also served as a prayer that all new students would ultimately become a generation imbued with creativity, innovation, and achieve. “You all come as FMIPA students from various places, with varying levels of ability. There’s no need to feel inferior. With this slogan, let’s enthusiastically move forward together to make it happen,” he continued. The Dean also encouraged the new students to start implementing the slogan to become FMIPA graduates who achieve 3.5 to the power of 4.

This aligns with the theme of the 2025 UNEJ PKKMB, “Advancing with Impact Towards a Golden Generation,” which aligns with UNEJ’s vision to produce graduates who excel, have character, and are globally competitive. Prof. Dafik stated that the first 3.5 is to ensure FMIPA students can successfully pass their thesis exams within 3.5 years. The second is to achieve a GPA of 3.5 to compete with competitors in the job market. “The next 3.5 is the 3.5-month waiting period for FMIPA graduates to find employment, and the final 3.5 million is the first salary FMIPA graduates receive,” hoped the Dean, who was accompanied by the Vice Deans, Heads of Department Secretaries, Study Program Coordinators, Heads of Laboratories, Heads of General Affairs, and the Deputy Coordinators. In preparation for the 2025 PKKMB, the Dean of the FMIPA UNEJ urges new students to be friendly and free from bullying.

“We welcome new FMIPA students with friendly service, and this year, in accordance with the UNEJ Rector’s instructions, there will be no more bullying,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., at the 2025 FMIPA PKKMB committee coordination meeting. The Dean also encouraged the committee to provide the best service to new students to create a positive impression of the faculty. “A friendly smile will make new students feel comfortable, and excellent service will be maintained,” he said. The Dean hopes that the student mentors will implement this, as hazing or bullying are no longer acceptable for new students.

University of Jember seriousness about bullying was evident at the signing of the Integrity Pact for the 2025 PKKMB in the Entrepreneurship Building. UNEJ Rector Iwan Taruna stated that PKKMB must be a safe, comfortable, and violence-free activity for all new students. Iwan Taruna emphasized to all the Deans in attendance that UNEJ’s 2025 PKKMB must be free from all forms of bullying, by overseeing the implementation of PKKMB. PKKMB Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember 2024: “FMIPA UNEJ Berkreasi Berinovasi”

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited new students to shout the jargon at the beginning of the inauguration speech of new students of FMIPA UNEJ. (19/8) “Fakultas MIPA Universitas Jember Berkreasi Berinovasi !!!,” said the Dean of FMIPA, followed by all participants of the ceremony. It was said that the jargon was also a prayer so that in the end all new students could become a generation that has creativity and innovation. “With that provision, FMIPA students who have flexibility will be accepted in various fields of work, becoming scientists, becoming programmers, and also becoming teachers or lecturers; that is very possible,” he continued. The Dean also invited new students to start implementing the jargon of FMIPA graduates achieving 3.5 to the power of 4.

He explained that the first 3.5 is as much as possible 3.5 years for FMIPA students to be able to take their thesis exams; the second is as much as possible to get a GPA of 3.5 to compete with competitors in the world of work. “The next 3.5 is the 3.5 month waiting period for FMIPA graduates to get a job and the last 3.5 million is the first salary that FMIPA graduates get,” hoped the Dean who was accompanied by the Vice Deans, Head of Department Secretaries, Study Program Coordinators, Heads of Laboratories and Head of General Affairs of FMIPA as well as the Vice Coordinators. Prof. Dafik touched on artificial intelligence (AI), which is now definitely on the minds of new students who are in fact Gen-Z students.

Preparation for PKKMB 2024, Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Teaches Friendly Service to New Students

“Let’s welcome new FMIPA students with a friendly smile and accompany and introduce all the facilities available at FMIPA,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., at the coordination meeting of the 2024 FMIPA PKKMB committee (15/8). The Dean also invited the committee to provide the best service to new students so that they get a good impression at the beginning. “A friendly smile will make new students feel comfortable; for them, this will be the beginning of a new life as students,” he said. The Dean hopes that the accompanying students can apply this because this era is no longer a hazing term. The 2024 PKKMB committee consists of educational staff and BEMF MIPA in the FMIPA UNEJ Dean’s meeting room.

Prof. Dafik also directly taught ice breaking to lighten the atmosphere in between the delivery of PKKMB materials. “When new students are tired, we have to lighten it up with ice-breaking movements that can make them excited again to follow the PKKMB materials,” he said. All meeting participants were invited to follow the movement of writing the letter SAPI using the head, shoulders, and hips. All participants imitated the movements of the Dean of FMIPA until they burst out laughing. “Seeing you all laugh, I am sure if this ice-breaking movement is implemented, new students will be excited again to follow the materials,” he continued. The atmosphere of the meeting became even more lively after Prof. Dafik taught another movement of arranging fingers from one to five. Continue reading
