Early this July, the academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Jember received two pieces of good news. Among them, the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program (PSSM) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UNEJ received UNGUL accreditation. This is stated in the decision of the Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) Number 201/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/VII/2025, dated July 7, 2025. The accreditation is valid from the date of issuance until July 6, 2030. This UNGUL accreditation is a source of great pride for the PSSM and the entire FMIPA community at UNEJ. “Achieving UNGUL accreditation from LAMSAMA is the result of the hard work of the task force and PSSM management, as well as the collaboration of several parties, including students and alumni of the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Contacted separately, Dr. Kiswara Agung Santoso, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program, stated that achieving UNGGUL (Excellent) is the result of hard work by his accreditation team, who prepared the forms, supported by lecturers, students, alumni, and stakeholders. “From the beginning of preparation, we have always coordinated with the task force, the undergraduate mathematics study program community, the leadership of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), and with assistance from LPMPP UNEJ,” said Kiswara. The University of Jember leadership also played a role and supported the LAMSAMA accreditation process. The field assessment was attended by the Rector, Vice Rector I, Head of the ICT Unit, Director of Postgraduate Studies, and representatives from the LPMPP. The UNEJ Rector fully supports the UNGGUL achievement to improve UNEJ’s IKU. The Vice Rector I delivered a presentation on the University of Jember’s profile.
As is known, in mid-June 2025, the LAMSAMA assessor team conducted a field assessment at the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program, FMIPA, UNEJ. The assessor team consisted of Prof. Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.U. from Gadjah Mada University and Prof. Alhadi Bustamam, M.Kom., Ph.D. from the University of Indonesia. The field assessment took place over two days, including several sessions with faculty leaders, study program leaders, the accreditation task force, alumni, and external users to gather information on stakeholders’ and alumni’s expectations, satisfaction, and input regarding the UPPS output. A direct visit to the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program and supporting units at the University of Jember was also conducted.
The success of the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) in achieving UNGGUL accreditation completes the four undergraduate study programs at the Faculty that have earned UNGGUL accreditation from LAMSAMA. “Thank God, all four undergraduate study programs within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences have received UNGGUL accreditation from LAMSAMA. Hopefully, this will continue to be maintained and will benefit the institution and students in particular,” concluded Prof. Dafik. FMIPA UNEJ now has four undergraduate study programs accredited UNGGUL LAMSAMA and one undergraduate study program internationally accredited by ASIIN, namely the undergraduate biology study program. Meanwhile, of the master’s study programs at FMIPA, 3 have been accredited by UNGGUL LAMSAMA and 1 study program, namely the master’s in chemistry, was just opened last year.
