The PPK ORMAWA BEMF MIPA Team University of Jember held a grand launching of the E-Bank Waste and Maggot Production in Kesilir Village, Wuluhan, Jember (29/9). Precisely at Pondok Pesantren Darussalaam Yasinat, the team has successfully developed a digital-based waste e-bank. The event was attended by Wakil Rektor 1 UNEJ Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., Warek 1 welcomes student programs that can touch and benefit the community.
“According to the theme Desa Kesilir Goes to Desa Bebas Sampah, it is hoped that the innovations of UNEJ students can be enjoyed by the community and of course have a good impact on the environment,” said Slamin. Present at the launching event, Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Caretaker of Pesantren KH. Dimyathi Burhan and K. Imam Bazar Jauhari Burhan, Head of Kesilir Village, and Jember University Task Force Team.
The BEMF MIPA ORMAWA team has carried out socialization on waste management by introducing organic and inorganic waste processing through a digital waste house based on an e-waste bank. Management of organic waste is through maggot cultivation, while inorganic waste can be created into recycled goods such as bags, flowers from used crackle materials, and others..
In an interview, Slamin said that this achievement can be continued because it is very good for the community and the environment. “Waste that is considered useless can be managed into manggot that can be used as animal feed and into items that can be used again” he explained.
Mini Expo is one of the series of events in this launching activity. The Expo was divided into 2 booths, the first was about waste bank management using applications and maggot cultivation methods. The second stand displays activity outputs such as books, concentrates, compost, savings books, and posters.
PPK ORMAWA BEMF MIPA received funding from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. By raising the title of E-bank Waste and Maggot Production (Hermetia illucens) as an Effort to Increase the Economic Value of Waste and Environmental Health in Kesilir Village.
The team has passed the selection for the 2022 Student Organization Capacity Building Program. This program was participated by Unit Kegiatan Mahasiawa (UKM), Himpunan Program Studi (HMP) and Lembaga Eksekutif Mahasiswa of all universities in Indonesia..
