The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team held a field assessment of the accreditation of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. The Rector of the University of Jember Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng. and the Vice Rector of UNEJ for Academic Affairs Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D. with the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied the assessor team in the opening ceremony of the field assessment (22-23/5). The assessor team consisted of Dr. Sony Heru Sumarsono from Institut Teknologi Bandung and Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S. from Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta.
Iwan Taruna in his opening remarks hoped that the Biology Undergraduate Study Program would be able to achieve UNGGUL which would improve UNEJ’s IKU. “With good cooperation from the taskforce team, hopefully the biology study program can achieve the UNGGUL predicate to improve UNEJ’s IKU,” he said. The Chancellor said that the field visitation was a process of verifying the accreditation files that the study program had submitted. “The visitation is a process of verifying accreditation documents, as a place to convince the assessors by the taskforce, hopefully it will run smoothly from the beginning until tomorrow,” he continued. The Rector officially opened the field assessment of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program. Present at the opening of the visitation were leaders and representatives from supporting institutions at the University of Jember such as LPMPP, LP2M, UPA TIK, Pascasarjana, UPA Library and UPA Bahasa.
Next, the Vice Rector I of UNEJ delivered a presentation on the Profile of Jember University. Several achievements and accomplishments of UNEJ at national and international levels were displayed. “In recent times, UNEJ has achieved many national and international achievements, both for students, lecturers, education staff and institutions,” explained Prof. Slamin. It was said that the achievements were supported by facilities that continued to be built as support. Previously, the Dean of FMIPA agreed with the Rector of UNEJ, hoping that the Biology Undergraduate Study Program could achieve UNGGUL accreditation. “Hopefully the efforts of the team from the biology study program can be a blessing with the best results, namely being accredited with the UNGGUL predicate,” he hoped.
Dr. Sony Heru Sumarsono and Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S. at the opening of the accreditation field assessment event also hoped that all sessions that had been prepared for the two days could be carried out well and smoothly. “We hope that all sessions in the field assessment stage can be carried out well according to the LKPS data that has been uploaded, we will ask for one or two of the data on the forms, ladies and gentlemen,” said Dr. Sony Heru Sumarsono. The opening ended with a photo session with the Rector, Vice Rector I, Dean of FMIPA and the LAMSAMA assessor team.
The first day of the visitation began with a session with the Faculty Leaders, Study Program Managers and the team from LPMPP UNEJ. The presentation was led directly by the Dean and accompanied by the Vice Deans of FMIPA UNEJ. Continued with a session with the Biology Undergraduate Study Program task force to confirm the LKPS data and also the Unit Pengelola Program Studi (UPPS) data. After the break, the assessor team met with lecturers to confirm performance, involvement, service, and lecturer satisfaction. Moving on to the next session with educational staff. Sessions with alumni and stakeholders were held in a hybrid manner. The first day closed with a session with Biology Study Program students
The second day began with checking the facilities and infrastructure of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program. Dr. Sony Heru Sumarsono and Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S. visited all laboratories in Biology to meet directly with students and see the results of the lecturers’ research. Continued to tour supporting facilities such as the UPA Library, LPMPP and Medical Center. Returning to the Dean’s Office, the assessor team worked independently to prepare drafts of minutes and accreditation recommendations. Continued with the delivery of feedback and signing of the minutes and assessment reports by the two assessors together with the Dean of FMIPA accompanied by the Head of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program. The LAMSAMA field assessment was closed with the handover of minutes and assessment reports.
