Students of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember carry out field lectures again through observations by enriching objects and natural phenomena. Field lectures cannot be carried out by all UNEJ students, including students of the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, during the last Covid-19 pandemic. With the pandemic easing, the Biology Department is back to carry out field lectures, but still for the 2020 batch of students as a start. Sistematika Tumbuhan course observes the collection of the Eka Karya Botanical Gardens, Tabanan Regency, Bali.
The management of the Eka Karya Bali Botanical Garden is carried out by Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) and organizationally is under the guidance of the Bogor Botanical Gardens Plant Conservation Center. Eka Karya Bali Botanical Garden has a collection of plants including orchids, ferns, begonias and cacti. This is suitable for Biology students, especially Sistematika Tumbuhan course, to conduct field lectures.
Meanwhile, Ekologi Akuatik course conducts field lectures by measuring Community Structure of Marine Biota in the Intertidal Zone of Bama Beach, Baluran National Park. To note, Bama Beach is a beach that has white sand, clean sea water, there is a mangrove ecosystem as a home for marine animals, behind the beach there are many trees as a coastal forest ecosystem. So it is a suitable place for field lectures for Ekologi Akuatik courses. Students are very enthusiastic about participating in field lectures, because some time ago they only attended online lectures.
As additional information, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Jember immediately returned to conducting face-to-face lectures on the first day of work after a joint leave of absence. This can be seen from the number of vehicles in the FMIPA parking area which is dominated by student vehicles. Chemistry majors include, on the first day of entry, they directly carry out face-to-face practicals in several laboratories.
