Biology Department Students, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Field Lectures in Bali and Baluran

Students of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember carry out field lectures again through observations by enriching objects and natural phenomena. Field lectures cannot be carried out by all UNEJ students, including students of the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, during the last Covid-19 pandemic. With the pandemic easing, the Biology Department is back to carry out field lectures, but still for the 2020 batch of students as a start. Sistematika Tumbuhan course observes the collection of the Eka Karya Botanical Gardens, Tabanan Regency, Bali.

The management of the Eka Karya Bali Botanical Garden is carried out by Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) and organizationally is under the guidance of the Bogor Botanical Gardens Plant Conservation Center. Eka Karya Bali Botanical Garden has a collection of plants including orchids, ferns, begonias and cacti. Apel Pagi and First Lecture at FMIPA UNEJ after Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H

Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held the first morning apple after Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H (9/5). Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. The Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ, as the coach of the apple, wished all participants a happy Eid. “All FMIPA leaders say minal aidzin wal faidzin, sorry to be born and inner heart to all FMIPA residents,” he said.

At the first morning assembly, according to instructions from the UNEJ leadership, all educators and education staff did QR-Code attendance as well as manual attendance as attendance reports. The Dean also advised that the happiness that was achieved during the celebration of the holiday victory had an impact on the performance of all the academics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNEJ. CERiMRE Journal of Physics Department, FMIPA indexed in DOAJ

“Congratulations for CERiMRE journal being indexed in DOAJ or Directory Open Access Journal following Jurnal ILMU DASAR” said Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. Vice Dean I of FMIPA UNEJ and Head of The OJS Team at University of Jember (19/4). CERiMRE, an acronym for Computational And Experimental Research In Materials And Renewable Energy, is managed by the Department of Physics, FMIPA in collaboration with Kelompok Riset Komputasi Material Terapan or KeRis KMT.

CERiMRE is counted as a young journal because it just published it in 2018. “He is relatively young, but he was able to achieve international indexation at the DOAJ level, hopefully this achievement will add enthusiasm to other FMIPA journals,” continued Siswoyo. DOAJ is a reputable international indexing engine of medium category which contains a journal database. DOAJ is open access, there is no charge for the indexation process. Continue reading

FMIPA UNEJ in collaboration with FPA Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia

Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held talks to establish cooperation with The Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology (FPA), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia (7/4). Initial communication with online meetings. FMIPA is led directly by Dean of UNEJ Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied by Deputy Dean I for Academic Affairs Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. and Deputy Dean II for General Affairs and Finance Purwatiningsih, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.

Meanwhile, FPA UiTM presents the Dean, Prof. Dr. Azhan Hashim, Dr Fazleen Abdul Fatah as Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Program Coordinator Dr Zaiton Sapak. On this occasion, discussions began with the student exchange program which included class meetings, internships, research, and lecturer assistance. Mathematics Department of FMIPA UNEJ now has a Statistician Clinic

Statistician Clinic is result of a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement between Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Kabupaten Jember with Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ last January. The existence of Statistician Clinic is expected to be able to improve Statistical Literacy to the wider community and assist students in consulting and searching for data for research and research purposes.

The Statistician Clinic is open every Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 15.00 which is temporarily located in the courtyard of the Mathematics Department building, FMIPA UNEJ. In the future, this clinic will occupy one of the spaces around the Jember University Library in order to reach more visitors. Some of the services that can be obtained include publication of digital data, statistical consultation, and recommendations for statistical activities. Continue reading

Students of Biology Department FMIPA Won Silver Medal at AISEEF 2022 International Event

Students of Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, chaired by Abdillah Maulana Farhan Angkatan 2020, won the Silver Medal in ASEAN Innovative Science Environmental and Entrepreneur Fair (AISEEF) Competition 2022 in Environmental Science (University) category. AISEEF 2022 was held from February 2 to February 5, 2022 by Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University. The title of the research presented in the final stage is “Sustainable Lakes: Design and Solutions for Regional Economic Rock Lakes in Ecotorism Jember”. Members of the team consist of multidisciplinary scientists from the University of Jember and State Islamic University of Malang, Yuli Isti Mulyani (Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ Batch 2021), Alma Sofi (Marine Construction Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering UNEJ 2020), Ainul Hilmi Ramdhani (Marine Construction Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering UNEJ 2020), and Hakam Wildan Nasrullah (Department of Architectural Engineering, UIN Malik Maulana Ibrahim Malang 2020). In the process of compiling the research, he was guided by one of lecturer of Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ in the field of ecology, Arif Mohammad Siddiq, S.Si., M.Si. The research proposal for this competitive program was inspired by post-mining activities in Jember Regency, one of which is in Gunung Batu Lake (as local people call it) Sumbersari District. The purpose of the research is to create a Sustainable Lake which becomes an ecotourism object as a source of education and can improve the local community’s economy, as well as being able to increase public awareness of the ecosystem..
