Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period I, Academic Year 2025/2026

FMIPA UNEJ held the 78th Postgraduate (S2) and 110th Undergraduate Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, period I, Academic Year 2025/2026 (24/7). Held at the Auditorium of the Entrepreneurship Building, University of Jember. In the graduation speech, Deputy Dean I of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D. said that graduation is not the end of a journey. “Graduation is a gateway to a greater world that will be traversed, namely the world of work, community service and further self-development,” she said. It is said that an academic degree is not a symbol but an internal, intellectual and moral responsibility that must be maintained.

Prof. Hari invited the graduates to become graduates who are not only intelligent but also have integrity. “Bring the good name of the FMIPA UNEJ alma mater wherever you go and become agents of change in society,” she continued. He also congratulated and congratulated all the graduates and invited them to prepare for the future after the graduation ceremony next weekend. The Vice Dean I was accompanied by the Vice Dean II and Vice Dean III of FMIPA representing the Chair of the Senate, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ who was unable to attend the graduation ceremony this period. Present were all members of the FMIPA senate as well as invitees from representatives of the teaching and educational staff of FMIPA UNEJ.

Next, the reading of the decree of the Dean of FMIPA regarding the 78th Postgraduate (S2) and 110th Undergraduate Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, period I, Academic Year 2025/2026 by the Deputy Dean III of FMIPA Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. Followed by congratulations by the Deputy Deans and Heads of Departments to all graduates. In this period’s graduation, Yusfi Afidah, S.Pd. from the Master of Biology Study Program achieved the highest GPA graduate predicate, namely 4.00 with a study period of 1 year 9 months 18 days. Meanwhile, the highest GPA graduate of the Undergraduate Program was achieved by Gilbert Geraldo Guanawan from the Biology Bachelor’s Study Program with a GPA of 3.97 with a study period of 3 years 4 months 23 days. The fastest graduate was Dian Firtana Putri from the Biology Bachelor’s Program with a GPA of 3.69 and a study period of 3 years, 4 months, 21 days.

The motivational speech at the graduation ceremony was delivered by Kurniawan Nurhudha, S.Si, a Chemistry Department alumnus from the class of 2006. The owner of the Best One Indonesia business revealed the secret for FMIPA graduates to be competitive in the world of work. “We FMIPA alumni must have a high fighting spirit, have new ideas wherever we are,” he said. He gave an example of himself who has explored all roles in various fields of work. “During my thesis, I was working at the Jember Lung Hospital, then I went through various work worlds, with a high fighting spirit, everything can be done while continuing to learn and process to be better,” he continued.

Kurniawan stated that UNEJ’s FMIPA graduates possess the advantage of being adaptable and having a strong fighting spirit, offering solutions. He exemplifies this by working for six companies and eventually starting his own business. Armed with the knowledge gained during college, alumni can compete in various job sectors. “As I often say to other alumni, we work not to sell anything, but rather to provide something positive for society, which will ultimately return to us,” he concluded. The graduates will attend the graduation ceremony this coming weekend at the University of Jember Auditorium.
