Natasya Emi Wijayati from Physics Achieves Highest GPA and Graduates Fastest at 103rd FMIPA UNEJ Graduation

FMIPA UNEJ held the 103rd Undergraduate Graduation (S1) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, for the 3rd period of the 2024/2025 academic year (13/9). Taking place on the 3rd floor of the Entrepreneurship Building, the University of Jember was attended by 16 prospective graduates. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the graduates to immediately prepare themselves after graduation tomorrow. “After the euphoria of graduation tomorrow, immediately prepare to face the future with the knowledge gained during their studies at FMIPA, University of Jember,” he began. The Dean believes that with the knowledge from FMIPA lecturers, graduates will be able to solve problems in the real world. When in college it ends in a simulation, but when in society they must be able to provide problem solving in all fields.

“I have confidence that FMIPA graduates can optimize their college education if they encounter real problems in their future lives,” he continued. Prof. Dafik also said that there are many opportunities that FMIPA graduates can achieve when they enter society in various fields. Graduates are also expected to have competitiveness and fighting spirit so that FMIPA is increasingly heard inside and outside the UNEJ campus. In this graduation, Natasya Emi Wijayati from the Physics Department achieved the highest GPA of 3.85 and became the fastest graduate with a study period of 3 years, 8 months, and 28 days. Dean Prof. Dafik Invites FMIPA Academic Community to Welcome UNEJ’s Status Transition to PTN-BH

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to prepare and participate in the plan to change the status of University of Jember to Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum (PTN-BH). “At the end of this year there will be a big moment; at UNEJ, our campus will prepare to become a PTN-BH; let’s welcome and participate in it,” said the Dean of FMIPA at the Apel Pagi on Monday morning (9/9). It was said that during PTN-BH there would be no more PNS recruitment, so the current opportunity could be utilized if there were colleagues who met the requirements to join UNEJ. The acceleration of promotion and functional for lecturers and education staff was also mentioned.

“This year, several of our lecturers and education staff will enter retirement, including professors, so immediately prepare to fill them, as well as senior lecturers, while young lecturers are also preparing for doctoral studies,” he continued. Prof. Dafik also conveyed the good news that FMIPA can already hold lectures in the ISDB building north of FMIPA. “We, FMIPA, can already utilize floors 4, 5, and 6 in the ISDB building for lectures and student organization activities; please utilize them and, for use, coordinate with the Head of General Affairs of FMIPA,” he invited. 102nd Graduation Ceremony of FMIPA UNEJ Undergraduate Program Period 2 Academic Year 2024/2025

FMIPA UNEJ held the 102nd Undergraduate (S1) Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period 2, Academic Year 2024/2025 (28/8). Different from before, this period’s graduation was held at the Entrepreneurship Building, University of Jember. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the graduates to commemorate the moment of independence by continuing the struggle through the fields that they will pursue after graduation. “Make the momentum of independence an example to continue your ideals through various fields with a fighting spirit to change your fate,” he said. The Dean advised that with the weapons in your pocket now, you can be effective and accurate in producing a better life.

It is said that a graduate with KKNI level 6 is already sufficient provision to compete in the world job market. “The world of work, such as industry and teachers to those who will continue their studies, now is the time to hurry because to fill independence there is long-term education, namely lifelong learning,” he continued. The Dean, together with the Vice Dean and the Senate of FMIPA UNEJ, congratulated and succeeded the 48 judges as well as the educators who led the judges to achieve their bachelor’s degrees. “Create yourself as someone who is independent with the provision of KKNI level 6 from FMIPA and do not depend on others, especially parents,” he concluded. DWP FMIPA UNEJ Educational Tour: Visit the Largest Aglaonema Nursery in Jember

On an educational tour, the management of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at University of Jember visited the largest aglaonema nursery in Jember (17/1). Led by the Chairperson of DWP FMIPA, Nur Sa’dijah Achmad Sjaifullah, DWP FMIPA administrators had the opportunity to see and hear directly an explanation of the process of seeding, planting, and caring for aglaonema. The garden is located in the Jl. Letjen. S. Parman Gang II/129. Jember is able to breed more than 250 varieties of aglaonema, making it the largest in Jember and one of the largest in the East Java region.

“Even though the breeding process is quite difficult, here we have studied media that are suitable for aglaonema plants,” said Prof. Agus Subekti, owner and developer of the garden, who is also a professor in the Department of Physics at FMIPA UNEJ. It is also said that there is a need for special spraying techniques to care for aglaonema. Prof. Agus also offered the DWP FMIPA UNEJ administrators the opportunity to learn to care for and reproduce, including if there is a desire to become an entrepreneur in breeding and developing aglaonema. DWP FMIPA UNEJ visits Purnama Jati Production House, Sees Cassava and Edamame Tape Processing

The management of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University, led directly by the Chairperson of the DWP FMIPA, Nur Sa’dijah Achmad Sjaifullah, visited the Purnama Jati production house in the Jalan Bungur Gebang Jember area (5/1). “Through the education work program, DWP FMIPA UNEJ wants to improve the skills of its members; one way is by visiting Purnama Jati,” he said. It was further stated that DWP FMIPA members could see firsthand the process of making processed cassava and edamame tape and also learn how to start and manage a business.

Purnama Jati started his business in 2000, starting as a small household business by opening a window in front of the house. “We started the business at a young age using a display case at home; we started several cakes from processed cassava and edamame,” began the story of Mrs. Firdaus, who gave up her civil servant status to dare to become an entrepreneur. He also said that when the pandemic hit, turnover decreased, and he put his mind to work to keep the business running smoothly. And that solution comes through cookies delivered online. Two FMIPA Alumni Share Work Experience and Entrepreneurship in Alumni Sharing

Hendra Setiawan alumni of Chemistry Department and Aldila Maya Yulandi alumni of Mathematics Department of FMIPA attended the Alumni Sharing to provide motivation to prospective graduates for period VIII of the 2022/2023 academic year (23/6). “Besides working, I also run several entrepreneurs, and even then I have changed jobs several times to get a higher salary, this is motivation for you that MIPA alumni can be in all lines of work and businesses,” said Hendra at the beginning of presentation. He also said that FMIPA alumni were flexible to be able to work in many fields, starting as analysts to banking.

“The FMIPA alumni can work anywhere, like me who has worked at a well-known music company, at a bank and finally in the pharmaceutical sector,” he said. Hendra also said that apart from working, he has been involved in several business ventures. The business is also not only one type, from food to car washing to pick up customers through the application. “The point is we have to be able to take advantage of opportunities carefully to make a profitable business,” he continued..
