Department of Mathematics FMIPA held The International Conference on Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics, and Computation (IC-MaGeStiC) 2021

Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held The International Conference on Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics, and Computation (IC-MaGeStiC) 2021 online (27/11). MaGeStiC is the first international seminar for mathematics department, and is closing of a series of international seminars at FMIPA UNEJ after previously there were three international seminars, IC2MS in Department of Chemistry, ICPIAM in Department of Physics and ICOLIB in Department of Biology. MaGeStiC 2021 has the theme “Building Networks and Collaborative Research on Mathematical Sciences“. Chairman of IC-MaGeStiC 2021, Dr. Kiswara Agung Santoso in plenary session said that MaGeStiC presented 4 Keynote Speakers, Prof. Nobuaki Obata from Ohoku University, Japan, Martianus Frederic Ezerman, Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Fernando Marmolejo-Ramos, Ph.D. from the University of South Australia, Australia, and Prof. Marko Vauhkonen from the University of Eastern Finland, Finland. “IC-MaGeStiC 2021 also presented 6 invited speakers, Natanael Karjanto Ph.D. from Sungkyunkwan University, Republic of Korea, Prof. Indah Emilia Wijayanti from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, Dr. Erry Hidayanto from University of Malang, Indonesia, Prof. I Made Tirta from University of Jember, Indonesia, Moh. Hasan, Ph.D. from University of Jember, Indonesia, and Dr. Kristiana Wijaya from University of Jember Indonesia,” he explained. Kiswara also revealed that IC-MaGeStiC 2021 was attended by 65 presenters and 60 of them had sent full papers to be presented in 6 parallel sessions, Computation, Graph and Algebra I, Graph and Algebra II, Modeling and Analysis, Statistics 1 and Statistics 2 and Education. Handover Ceremony Head and Secretary of Departments at FMIPA UNEJ

“Thank you to past head and secretary of departments who have worked with us, have also contributed a lot for the progress of FMIPA,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. in the handover ceremony for the positions of head and secretary of department at Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (19/11). Furthermore, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences hopes that the work of past head and secretary of departments can be continued by maintaining cooperation with new head and secretary of departments. To note the handover of this position based on Surat Keputusan Rektor of University of Jember No. 22457/UN25/KP/2021 about Pemberhentian dan Pengangkatan Ketua dan Sekretaris Jurusan Fakultas MIPA Universitas Jember. “Time is short, we proposed names of lecturers for new head and secretary of departments some time ago, and the file is complete so that it can be processed immediately with the issuance of Keputusan Rektor” he explained. For new head and secretary of departments, Dean advised new head and secretary of departments to be able to continue the duties of their predecessors and also touched on performance achievements. “We will immediately discuss together the performance achievements and then what will be achieved based on the target,” he asked. The new head and secretary of departments is also given the task of inviting lecturers in study programs who have expertise to collaborate with other institutions and later put it in the form of a cooperation agreement. “We will discuss all plans offline, including Kampus Merdeka,” he concluded. Department of Mathematics FMIPA Student won Silver Medals at The iWareBatik International Hackathon Event 2021

Mita Kornilia Dewi, Departments of Mathematics Department’s student angkatan 2018, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ with University of Jember team, won Silver Prime Defender – Distinction at iWareBatik Ideas International Hackathon Event 2021. “This event is an international event with judges from several countries such as Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Germany and Indonesia. who is a collaborator on the USI UNESCO Chair” said Mita. Mita also said that the selection stage started from University selection which was held on October 3-6, 2021 ago. Each University sends several delegates who will be re-selected to get best essay. Furthermore, the selected participants will participate in mentoring on 11-12 October 2021. For your infomation, besides Mita in University of Jember team, there are Aida Nur Azizah from Faculty of Computer Science and Ulfah Wahdiyani from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. They are guided by drg. Agustin Wulan Suci D., MDSc, ​​one of the lecturers at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember. After receiving briefing, the UNEJ team participated in the first round of the Hanckathon Competition which was held on October 15, 2021. “This round includes a presentation session to convey innovation, University of Jember team raised theme The Room Inside iWareBatik which is a new innovation to maintain application security,” continued girl who is also Official Campus Ambassador at International Model United Nations (IMUN). Offline Class at Department of Mathematics, Faculty of MIPA, University of Jember

“Online participants can clearly hear my voice? Then the display on the whiteboard can also be read?” this was said by Kusbudiono, S.Si, M.Si. to online lecture participants. All answered clearly and were ready to take the Aljabar Linier course this afternoon which was attended by Angkatan 2020 (2/11). “For offline participants here, if you have any questions, please convey them with the available mic, so that your online friends can hear the voice well,” continued Kusbudiono who is also the Head of Departmentof Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. The lectures held on the 2nd floor of building I mathematics department, have been prepared in such a way as to be comfortable for offline and online lecture participants. The equipment that has been prepared is a handycam camera by using HDMI capture to produce video with clear quality. “For sound, we use a mini mixer so that the wireless mic from the teacher and offline participants can enter the zoom meeting clearly,” he said before starting the lecture. HDMI capture and mixer used are based on the initial meeting where there were problems with poor picture and sound quality due to the use of a webcam only. By implementing protokol kesehatan, it is hoped that limited offline lectures can represent lecture participants who are currently still online. “We will make room and equipment are static in this room, because there are some courses that also carry out limited lectures” he said. Dr. Raden Bagus Fajriya Hakim: Making Sense of Data: The Automatic Statistician

“Automatic Statistician has been researched around 2016, and I want to share why I came to this direction,” said Dr. Raden Bagus Fajriya Hakim, S.Si., M.Sc. Lecturer of Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia in a Guest Lecture with theme “Making Sense of Data: The Automatic Statistician“. The event was held online by Data Science Research Group, Department of Mathematics, FMIPA University of Jember (15/10). Hakim continued that time and process were needed. “First, we did collection, organization, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data that is manifested in a big data” he said that in this event moderated by Abduh Riski, S.Si, M.Si. a lecturer of tDepartment of Mathematics FMIPA UNEJ. Hakim also presented about problems in big data: Volume, Variety and Variety. In addition, there is a Veracity, accuracy and level of trust in data. “Among 5V which is a problem in big data, the fifth V is Value, most important thing because statisticians must be able to determine the price of a data,” he said, which in this agenda showed activities Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia related to data science. In the data processing process, several tasks that could become job opportunities were also explained. “Data Engineering for the process of data collection and organization, Data Analytic on organizational processes, analysis and interpretation, the last one is Data Visualization on the interpretation and presentation process,” he explained. Hakim also explained the courses that could be implemented in a data science, not only in statistics but also in contact with non-statistical subjects such as programming algorithms or calculus. Department of Mathematics: The Joint Research Workshop from DM-ITS Surabaya

The research system and road map of research at the Mathematics Department of ITS Surabaya became the main topic in the Joint Research Workshop organized by the Mathematics Department of FMIPA University of Jember in Multimedia Room on Monday (December 11, 2017). Department of Mathematics ITS (DM-ITS) which represented by Prof. Dr. Moh Isa Irawan, Dr. Dieky Adzkiya and Dr. Choirul Imron presented each Focus Group Discussion according to the field. “Increasing the role of functional analysis in applied mathematics and data assimilation methods on large-scale systems Maxplus & Maxmin algebra is among the research objectives in the DM-ITS Analysis and Algebra Laboratory” Dieky Adzkiya in the subject matter of Research Analysis and Algebra. There are some interesting research in this field such as solar panel position control by using fuzzy method. “And there is also the application of fuzzy for weather prediction in the determination of cropping pattern” he continued.
