Chemistry FMIPA UNEJ Holds 6th International Conference on Chemistry and Material Science (IC2MS) 2024

The Chemistry Department of FMIPA UNEJ held the International Conference on Chemistry and Material Sciences (IC2MS) 2024 in collaboration with Brawijaya University, Malang State University, and Mara Technology University (25-26/9). The theme raised was “Sustainable Chemistry and Material Sciences for a Better Life.” Taking place at the Soetardjo Building, Jember University presented keynote speakers from abroad and within the country. Prof. Spas D Kolev from Australia, Prof. Ts Dr.-Ing. Oskar Hasdinor Hassan from Malaysia, Prof. Yun-Hi Kim from Korea, Dr. Verawat Champreda from Thailand, Prof. Brian Yuliarto from Taking place at and Prof. Bambang Kuswandi as the host of Jember University.

The 6th IC2MS 2024 also presents 10 invited speakers, namely Dr.Sc. Lukman Hakim from UB, Prof. Surjani Wonorahardjo from UM, Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Noraini Ahmad and Dr. Umi Marshida Abd. from Korea, Eko Setio Wibowo, Ph.D. from BRIN, Dr. Anton Prasetyo from UIN MMI Malang, and Prof. Anak Agung Istri Ratnadewi, representative of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA UNEJ. In addition to the seminar, the 6th IC2MS 2024 held a workshop with the theme “Exploring Chemical Space with DataWarrior: Unveiling the Universe of Molecular Possibilities.”.

Three UNEJ FMIPA Students Become National Level ONMIPA-PT Finalists in 2024

Three students from the MIPA Faculty of Jember University successfully passed the regional level selection and were entitled to become finalists in the Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (ONMIPA-PT) 2024. They consisted of Ragil Wahyu Utomo from the Biology Department, FMIPA, Masrurotul Alfiah, and Novian Rico Saputra from the Chemistry Department, FMIPA. National-level ONMIPA-PT activities will be held offline from May 12 to 17, 2024, at Hasanuddin University, Makassar. “It is an honor for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the University of Jember to be able to send representatives to compete in prestigious student events at the national level,” said Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. PIC ONMIPA-PT University of Jember and Vice Dean III FMIPA UNEJ.

Previously, 20 University of Jember students from FMIPA, FKIP, and the Faculty of Medicine took part in the regional-level selection on April 24–25. Located in Mathematics Laboratory 1 and 2, FMIPA UNEJ Mathematics Department, UNEJ delegates took part in online selection according to the fields being competed in, namely mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry. “The Jember University delegation are the best students who we have selected at the university level and were given intensive assistance before taking part in the regional level selection,” he continued.. Farewell to the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember

Located in the Physics Department Auditorium, the academic community and the FMIPA Dharma Wanita Association attended a farewell event for the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ (28/3). Also present was the Dean of FMIPA from the previous period, Drs. Achmad Sjaifulah, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompanied by Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA for the 2024–2028 period. Pak Sjai, who is known as Mr. Sjai, gave a welcome and thanked the community that had helped during his leadership. “I would like to express my gratitude for all the support and for achieving several programs during our last period of leadership,” he said. Next, Pak. Sjai hopes that Prof. Dafik, FMIPA UNEJ, continues to progress.

On the same occasion, former Vice Dean I FMIPA Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. also expressed his gratitude for the support of colleagues in carrying out their duties assisting the Dean of FMIPA last period. “Similar to Pak. Sjai, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to my colleagues who always provide support when carrying out their duties to assist the Dean of FMIPA,” he said. Good luck, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. Dean of FMIPA, University of Jember for the 2024-2028 Period

Rector of Jember University, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM, officially inaugurated Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, for the period 2024–2028 (8/3). On the same occasion, the Rector also inaugurated the Vice Rector III of the University of Jember, the Dean of FKM and FT UNEJ, the Secretary of the Institution, and the Head of the Unit Penunjang Akademik (UPA) at the University of Jember. Prof. Dafik continued the leadership baton of FMIPA UNEJ for the previous period, which was held by Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. Present in the UNEJ Rectorate Hall, 3rd floor, were the Chairman of the Senate, the Vice Rectors, Heads of Bureaus, Heads of Institutions, and Deans of the UNEJ environment. Also, the Deputy Deans and Heads of General Affairs of the faculty were appointed.

Prof. Dafik is a mathematics lecturer who completed his education at FKIP UNEJ in 1992. Then he continued his studies at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), U.K., England, in 1998. Meanwhile, his doctoral degree was obtained from the School of Information and Technology and Mathematical Science (ITMS) at the University of Ballarat, Australia, in 2007. And was awarded the title of professor in 2013. He served as Dean of FKIP UNEJ in the 2016–2020 period and Chair of the Research Group Combinatorics, Graph Theory, and Network Topology (CGANT) from 2018–present. Continue reading

FMIPA University of Jember Collaborates with FMIPA University of Mataram

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (FMIPA UNEJ) collaborates with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Mataram (FMIPA UNRAM). This collaboration was marked by the signing of Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS) between the Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Dean of FMIPA UNRAM, Dr. Rahadi Wirawan, S.Si., M.Si., online (7/3). The signing of the PKS manuscript was also attended by the Deputy Deans, Heads of Study Programs, and collaboration teams from both faculties. According to the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, the implementation of cooperation with FMIPA UNRAM has begun even before the signing of the manuscript.

“Implementation of arrangements, or IA, in the field of publication is ready to be carried out even before signing the PKS manuscript; this will help with reporting or output from the collaboration that we will carry out,” began the Dean of FMIPA at UNEJ. It was also conveyed that at FMIPA UNEJ, there are several SINTA-accredited journals that are ready to collaborate to realize the scope of cooperation between the two faculties. We hope that in the future we can visit each other to see directly the infrastructure of the two faculties and strengthen friendship and cooperation. Continue reading

LAMSAMA Accreditation Field Assessment of Master of Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University

The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team held a field assessment of the accreditation of the FMIPA UNEJ Physics Master’s Study Program. Vice Chancellor I University of Jember Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., together with Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achamd Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompany the assessor team at the opening of the field assessment (22/02). The assessor team consists of Prof. Dr. Mitrayana, S.Si., MSi., from Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta and Prof. Drs. Triyanta, M.S., Ph.D., from Institut Teknologi Bandung.

Vice Chancellor UNEJ Prof. Slamin delivered a presentation on the University of Jember Profile. In his presentation, the vision and mission, faculty, postgraduate studies, study programs, teaching staff, educational staff, and active students at UNEJ were presented, as well as UNEJ’s achievements and the direction of UNEJ’s development from 2004 to 2028. “In recent years, the accreditation of study programs with superior achievements at UNEJ has increased, in line with several achievements at national and international levels,” he explained.
