Department of Biologi, FMIPA and Master degree of Biotechnology University of Jember carried out ASIIN’s international accreditation visitation (15-16/12). The Akcreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik or ASIIN team held a meeting with the heads of institutions at UNEJ on the first day. The ASIIN Peer Group consists of Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Meinhardt, University of Muenster, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nellen, Kassel University, Yayang Vionita, PT Cinquer Agro Nusantara, Fatima Qonita Nazihah, State University of Surabaya.
They are with ASIIN Office Dr. Iring Wasser heard presentations on university development, institution profiles, teaching studies. Jember University leadership also gave presentations on collaboration with stakeholders, perspective on resource development, institutional facilities, communication and coordination, study organization and management, teaching to students and quality management at the university level.
Followed by meetings with program managers, FMIPA was represented by the Dean, Vice Deans 1, 2 and 3 as well as the Head of Biology and several Biology lecturers. Discuss educational goals, curriculum, study programs, teaching methods, student counseling, student exam processes, study results, and graduate preparation for the world of work.
With Biology undergraduate study program students, peer groups and the ASIIN office, they talked about education in the study program, the teaching they had received, learning conditions, and opportunities to study abroad. The first day ended with a visit to the biology study program and the laboratory to see the existing facilities.
The second day, the ASIIN team met with lecturers in the Biology FMIPA study program. Discuss curriculum, study program courses, learning, student assistance and further qualifications from professors and other lecturers. The team also held meetings with partners or stakeholders working with the university. Discuss curriculum development, internships, final studies at partners.
At the end of the ASIIN accreditation visitation, the team held a final meeting which scheduled impressions and messages from the ASIIN peer group and opportunities
for final explanation by HEI in case of unclear matters. UNEJ itself hopes that the undergraduate biology and biotechnology master study programs can follow, namely the Agribusiness study program, the Agrotechnology study program, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP, to achieve ASIIN international accreditation.
