Dean Prof. Dafik Invites FMIPA Academic Community to Welcome UNEJ’s Status Transition to PTN-BH

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to prepare and participate in the plan to change the status of University of Jember to Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum (PTN-BH). “At the end of this year there will be a big moment; at UNEJ, our campus will prepare to become a PTN-BH; let’s welcome and participate in it,” said the Dean of FMIPA at the Apel Pagi on Monday morning (9/9). It was said that during PTN-BH there would be no more PNS recruitment, so the current opportunity could be utilized if there were colleagues who met the requirements to join UNEJ. The acceleration of promotion and functional for lecturers and education staff was also mentioned.

“This year, several of our lecturers and education staff will enter retirement, including professors, so immediately prepare to fill them, as well as senior lecturers, while young lecturers are also preparing for doctoral studies,” he continued. Prof. Dafik also conveyed the good news that FMIPA can already hold lectures in the ISDB building north of FMIPA. “We, FMIPA, can already utilize floors 4, 5, and 6 in the ISDB building for lectures and student organization activities; please utilize them and, for use, coordinate with the Head of General Affairs of FMIPA,” he invited. It was also said that classes in the UNEJ Entrepreneurship building can also be used for Masters lectures. Continue reading

FMIPA UNEJ Team Enlivens TAJEMTRA 2024: Introducing FMIPA to Berkreasi dan Berinovasi

TAJEMTRA 2024 was held again, a traditional event routinely held by the Jember Regency Government every year, becoming a routine agenda item of the FMIPA UNEJ team participating in TAJEMTRA. Consisting of FMIPA education staff, the team took part in a 30-kilometer walking activity from Tanggul to Jember on August 31 yesterday. This year, by unfurling a banner that read FMIPA UNEJ Berkreasi dan Berinovasi, they wanted to introduce FMIPA UNEJ to the outside community. “In addition to exercising, the FMIPA team has a vision to reintroduce FMIPA UNEJ to the Jember community, a warehouse of young scientist candidates,” said one of the participants.

The challenging 30-kilometer route did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants. Starting from Tanggul and finishing at Alun-Alun Jember, the FMIPA UNEJ team passed through various beautiful rural scenery. Along the route, local residents were also enthusiastic about providing support by providing drinking water and cheering. “Not only FMIPA, there are several teams from faculties at UNEJ who also routinely take part in TAJEMTRA; we have met several times, and we are very happy to be able to participate again,” he continued. Inauguration of Solar Cell and Windmill Based Coffee Drying House in Pace Village, Silo, Jember

On Friday, August 23, 2024, the PPK Ormawa Himafi FMIPA Team of Jember University inaugurated a solar cell and windmill-based coffee dryer house in Pace Village, Silo District, Jember Regency. Several officials of Jember University were present. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni of University of Jember, Dean along with Vice Dean I and Vice Dean III of FMIPA UNEJ, Head of the Physics Department of FMIPA, Supervising Lecturers, and Coordinator of the Student Affairs and Alumni Working Group of UNEJ. Meanwhile, regional officials were present: Silo Sub-district Head, Pace Village Head, Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas, Head of Pace BUMDES, Farmers Group Association, Head of LMDH, Hamlet Head, Pace Village apparatus. Several KKN Collaboration students, and of course the entire PPK Ormawa UNEJ Team

It began with a speech by the Supervising Lecturer of the PPK Ormawa HIMAFI Team, Nindha Ayu Berlianti, S.Pd., S.Si., M.Si, who reported on the implementation from the beginning of the program to the inauguration of the coffee drying house. This program is part of community service that not only focuses on increasing coffee productivity, but also on environmental sustainability. “We hope that this innovation can be a model for other regions in Indonesia that have the potential for coffee development, and can help farmers improve the quality of their harvest at a more efficient and environmentally friendly cost,” she said. 102nd Graduation Ceremony of FMIPA UNEJ Undergraduate Program Period 2 Academic Year 2024/2025

FMIPA UNEJ held the 102nd Undergraduate (S1) Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period 2, Academic Year 2024/2025 (28/8). Different from before, this period’s graduation was held at the Entrepreneurship Building, University of Jember. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited the graduates to commemorate the moment of independence by continuing the struggle through the fields that they will pursue after graduation. “Make the momentum of independence an example to continue your ideals through various fields with a fighting spirit to change your fate,” he said. The Dean advised that with the weapons in your pocket now, you can be effective and accurate in producing a better life.

It is said that a graduate with KKNI level 6 is already sufficient provision to compete in the world job market. “The world of work, such as industry and teachers to those who will continue their studies, now is the time to hurry because to fill independence there is long-term education, namely lifelong learning,” he continued. The Dean, together with the Vice Dean and the Senate of FMIPA UNEJ, congratulated and succeeded the 48 judges as well as the educators who led the judges to achieve their bachelor’s degrees. “Create yourself as someone who is independent with the provision of KKNI level 6 from FMIPA and do not depend on others, especially parents,” he concluded. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Gives Study Program Awards for IKU Achievements, and FMIPA Family Retirement Awards

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., explained the evaluation of the achievement of the IKU of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, in the Biology Auditorium Room (27/8). “We have achieved several achievements, but there is still a lot of work that we must complete towards FMIPA UNGGUL,” he began. The data was presented to the academic community of FMIPA to be understood and observed as joint evaluation material in order to continue to build and advance FMIPA. The Dean of FMIPA also touched on the enthusiasm of students in FMIPA. “We look at the data, we study it, and we improve it in the future, including by establishing study programs that attract prospective students,” he continued, accompanied by the Vice Deans of FMIPA at UNEJ.

FMIPA also has an ambition to be UNGGUL in the ASEAN region, with 40% of FMIPA study programs accredited by ASIIN and recognized in ASEAN. So it is not impossible that in 2030 FMIPA will be UNGGUL in the Asia and World regions (World Class University). “So I invite us to work together to advance FMIPA, and study programs that excel in IKU achievements will be given special rewards to encourage study programs to follow suit,” he said. In the 2023/2024 academic year, the best study programs for IKU achievement performance are biology and physics. The Dean of FMIPA UNEJ who initiated the event will make the agenda routine every year, especially at the end of the academic year. Continue reading

PKKMB Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember 2024: “FMIPA UNEJ Berkreasi Berinovasi”

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., invited new students to shout the jargon at the beginning of the inauguration speech of new students of FMIPA UNEJ. (19/8) “Fakultas MIPA Universitas Jember Berkreasi Berinovasi !!!,” said the Dean of FMIPA, followed by all participants of the ceremony. It was said that the jargon was also a prayer so that in the end all new students could become a generation that has creativity and innovation. “With that provision, FMIPA students who have flexibility will be accepted in various fields of work, becoming scientists, becoming programmers, and also becoming teachers or lecturers; that is very possible,” he continued. The Dean also invited new students to start implementing the jargon of FMIPA graduates achieving 3.5 to the power of 4.

He explained that the first 3.5 is as much as possible 3.5 years for FMIPA students to be able to take their thesis exams; the second is as much as possible to get a GPA of 3.5 to compete with competitors in the world of work. “The next 3.5 is the 3.5 month waiting period for FMIPA graduates to get a job and the last 3.5 million is the first salary that FMIPA graduates get,” hoped the Dean who was accompanied by the Vice Deans, Head of Department Secretaries, Study Program Coordinators, Heads of Laboratories and Head of General Affairs of FMIPA as well as the Vice Coordinators. Prof. Dafik touched on artificial intelligence (AI), which is now definitely on the minds of new students who are in fact Gen-Z students.
