UNEJ FMIPA Alumni Sharing: Prepare Yourself After Graduation, Office Work or Entrepreneurship?

Shandiputra Budhi Perdana, S.Si. alumni of the Mathematics Department class of 2007 and Fatmawati, S.Si. alumni of the Biology Department class of 2004 attended the Alumni Sharing to provide motivation to prospective graduates for period I of the 2023/2024 academic year (4/8). “Before starting my own business, I was also an office worker at a bank and an insurance company,” said Shandi at the beginning of the presentation of Too Mad To Math material . He also said that FMIPA alumni were flexible to be able to work in many fields, and started thinking about goals after graduation.

“To start something requires courage, and if you want to develop it you need knowledge,” he said. Shandi also said that after leaving the office, he started entrepreneurship related to plants. “The first entrepreneurship I was involved in was a plant, how come it was so far from mathematics? yes, but knowledge can be sought and supported by the courage to start,” continued Shandi at the event which was held in the General Room of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA UNEJ in a hybrid manner. Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ won ASIIN International Accreditation

After going through the assessment process since it was submitted in December 2022, the Undergraduate Program in Biology FMIPA UNEJ won International Accreditation from the Accrediterungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik or ASIIN. “We express our gratitude for the achievement of accreditation from ASIIN, after preparing and waiting for this happy news to finally come,” said Dr. Retno Wimbaningrum Head of Biology Study Program FMIPA..

ASIIN Accreditation for Biology Study Program FMIPA conforms to Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework for Life-long Learning (EQF LLL) . Accreditation Letter signed by Dr. Iring Wasser as the Managing Director who was present at ASIIN’s visitation some time ago. The Head of the Biology Study Program hopes that ASIIN’s accreditation achievements can spread to all FMIPA study programs and also become an encouragement for the Biology Masters Study Program which is in the process of being re-accredited. “The ASIIN accreditation obtained will increase our enthusiasm and the re-accreditation team for the master of biology study program to achieve superior accreditation, hopefully,” he hoped. IKAMIPA UNEJ Holds 2023 General Meeting to Choose New Management

IKAMIPA UNEJ again held a general meeting on July 13, 2023, at the FMIPA Chemistry Building. IKAMIPA UNEJ is an alumni association organization for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, which was formed on October 22, 2013, so now IKAMIPA UNEJ is one decade old. At the general meeting, which was also packaged as the 2023 Alumni Gathering Event, three main agenda items were also discussed: activity and financial reports from the previous IKAMIPA management; election of the new chairman of IKAMIPA UNEJ; preparation of the management structure of IKAMIPA UNEJ; and discussion of AD/ART..

The General Meeting, which was attended by 20 offline participants and 22 online participants, brought up 4 candidates for general chairpersons proposed by each alumni from the 4 major assemblies at FMIPA, namely: Istiqomah Rahmawati (Chemical Alumni Batch 2009), Tri Ratnasari (Biology Alumni Batch 2004), Endah Purwandari (Physics Alumni Class of 1999), and finally Abduh Riski (Mathematics Alumni Class of 2007). The results of the deliberations determined that Abduh Riski was elected as the new Chairman of the IKAMIPA UNEJ with a vote of 29 votes.. Continue reading

The Role of Academics and Biology Students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Releasing Wildlife at the Nusa Barong Wildlife Sanctuary, Jember

The release of wild species, namely long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) and pythons (Python sp.), at the Nusa Barong Jember Animal Sanctuary was organized by the Indonesian Animal Network (JSI) in collaboration with the Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). East (15/7). “This agenda involves several parties, such as local fishermen, the Indonesian Navy, and academics, namely lecturers and students of the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ,” said Hari Sulistiyowati, Ph.D. Biology lecturers who are active in the agenda.

Hari also said that three lecturers from the K-Biotrop Research Group, along with 2 students from the Masters Program in Biology and 2 students from the Biology Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, were involved for the first time in this release activity as a form of collaboration with BKSDA Region III Jember. “This activity provides insight and experience, as well as raising biology students’ concern for animal preservation,” she continued.. Last Working at FMIPA UNEJ, Dr. Teguh Gives Public Lecture at Department of Biology

Dr. Hidayat Teguh Wiyono, M.Pd., a lecturer at Department of Biology FMIPA delivered a Public Lecture in the context of separating from his retirement period (4/7). Mr. Teguh raised the theme “Integrasi Model Tematik Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi dengan KKN Mahasiswa untuk Mewujudkan Visi-Misi Lembaga (Jurusan)“. He shared various experiences while working directly in the community in developing super longan to assisting student Community Service Programs in the Baluran area and sentool plantations.

Mr. Teguh also mentioned that the vision and mission of the University of Jember and FMIPA are related to what he does, namely community service. “The vision and mission of FMIPA and UNEJ have alluded to what I am doing, I hope it will continue and have great opportunities not only for KKN but also for the implementation of MBKM,” he said. He gave the example of the sentool plantation which he last worked on, opening up many opportunities for BKP MBKM to be implemented there. Continue reading

Two FMIPA Alumni Share Work Experience and Entrepreneurship in Alumni Sharing

Hendra Setiawan alumni of Chemistry Department and Aldila Maya Yulandi alumni of Mathematics Department of FMIPA attended the Alumni Sharing to provide motivation to prospective graduates for period VIII of the 2022/2023 academic year (23/6). “Besides working, I also run several entrepreneurs, and even then I have changed jobs several times to get a higher salary, this is motivation for you that MIPA alumni can be in all lines of work and businesses,” said Hendra at the beginning of presentation. He also said that FMIPA alumni were flexible to be able to work in many fields, starting as analysts to banking.

“The FMIPA alumni can work anywhere, like me who has worked at a well-known music company, at a bank and finally in the pharmaceutical sector,” he said. Hendra also said that apart from working, he has been involved in several business ventures. The business is also not only one type, from food to car washing to pick up customers through the application. “The point is we have to be able to take advantage of opportunities carefully to make a profitable business,” he continued..
