DWP FMIPA UNEJ Educational Tour: Visit the Largest Aglaonema Nursery in Jember

On an educational tour, the management of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at University of Jember visited the largest aglaonema nursery in Jember (17/1). Led by the Chairperson of DWP FMIPA, Nur Sa’dijah Achmad Sjaifullah, DWP FMIPA administrators had the opportunity to see and hear directly an explanation of the process of seeding, planting, and caring for aglaonema. The garden is located in the Jl. Letjen. S. Parman Gang II/129. Jember is able to breed more than 250 varieties of aglaonema, making it the largest in Jember and one of the largest in the East Java region.

“Even though the breeding process is quite difficult, here we have studied media that are suitable for aglaonema plants,” said Prof. Agus Subekti, owner and developer of the garden, who is also a professor in the Department of Physics at FMIPA UNEJ. It is also said that there is a need for special spraying techniques to care for aglaonema. Prof. Agus also offered the DWP FMIPA UNEJ administrators the opportunity to learn to care for and reproduce, including if there is a desire to become an entrepreneur in breeding and developing aglaonema. Opening of the Chemistry Master’s Study Program, Complete the Master’s Study Program at the FMIPA, University of Jember

Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 99/E/O/2024 dated January 11, 2024, FMIPA UNEJ has a Chemistry Masters Study Program. “The Chemistry Master’s Study Program completes the four master’s study programs at FMIPA UNEJ, after Mathematics, Biology, and Physics,” said Deputy Dean I of FMIPA, Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. The opening of the chemistry master’s study program has been prepared for some time to meet the response of FMIPA chemistry undergraduate alumni in particular and the community in general.

“FMIPA chemistry alumni, especially those who want to study further, can now take part in the chemistry master’s study program; people around Jember or East Java can also join us,” he said. It was stated that new student registration would soon be announced after the official appointment of the head of the chemistry master’s study program by the Chancellor of the University of Jember. “The Master of Chemistry will prepare everything for accepting new students, including the selection mechanism,” continued Siswoyo, who is also a lecturer in the Chemistry Department at FMIPA. Early in 2024, TUK Agricultural Biology, FMIPA, will hold a Plant Tissue Culture Competency Test

Early in 2024, the Tempat Uji Kompetensi (TUK) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University, will hold a Competency Test in the Field of Tissue Culture Level II in the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ (6/1). This time, the competency test was attended by lecturers and students from the Biology Department at Diponegoro University. Before the activity, participants must complete several supporting documents, including photocopies of KTP and KK, diplomas and final grade transcripts, color photographs, and other relevant supporting certificates.

“Participants are also required to fill out a competency test form and supporting documents,” said Syubbanul Wathon, S.Si., M.Si., as part of the TUK Agriculture Secretariat, Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ. This activity is a form of collaboration between the TUK Agriculture Biology Department and the Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi Pertanian Nasional (LSP PN), which is a Pelaksanaan Sertifikasi Kompetensi Kerja (PSKK) program from the Badan Nasional Sertifikasi Profesi (BNSP). Faishol Amir, S.Si., M.E. Invite FMIPA UNEJ Graduates to Have Confidence in Facing the World of Work

Faishol Amir, S.Si., M.E. alumni of the 2005 FMIPA Mathematics Department, was present to provide motivation to FMIPA UNEJ graduates at the alumni sharing event (5/1). The man, who is a civil servant from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Situbondo, invited participants to develop a confident mindset for competing and succeeding in the world of work. “Instill a mindset of self-confidence to compete with other job seekers; we FMIPA alumni are ready for that,” said the BPS Young Statistician. Faishol also shared his experience when he started his career by competing with alumni of well-known universities.

It was said that FMIPA UNEJ graduates can and are able to win the competition in the world of work with maximum effort and a confident mindset. The alumni of the Brawijaya University Masters in Economics Postgraduate Program also invited alumni sharing participants not to be stingy with job vacancy information. “For me, sharing locker information does not reduce opportunities; it will actually give us lots of prayers for success,” he said. DWP FMIPA UNEJ visits Purnama Jati Production House, Sees Cassava and Edamame Tape Processing

The management of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University, led directly by the Chairperson of the DWP FMIPA, Nur Sa’dijah Achmad Sjaifullah, visited the Purnama Jati production house in the Jalan Bungur Gebang Jember area (5/1). “Through the education work program, DWP FMIPA UNEJ wants to improve the skills of its members; one way is by visiting Purnama Jati,” he said. It was further stated that DWP FMIPA members could see firsthand the process of making processed cassava and edamame tape and also learn how to start and manage a business.

Purnama Jati started his business in 2000, starting as a small household business by opening a window in front of the house. “We started the business at a young age using a display case at home; we started several cakes from processed cassava and edamame,” began the story of Mrs. Firdaus, who gave up her civil servant status to dare to become an entrepreneur. He also said that when the pandemic hit, turnover decreased, and he put his mind to work to keep the business running smoothly. And that solution comes through cookies delivered online. Good luck, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM. Rector of Jember University for the 2024-2028 period

The election for the Chancellor of the University of Jember for the 2024–2028 period was completed on January 4, 2024. Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM, was declared victorious over the other two candidates. Thus, the man who was born on October 5, 1969, continued his leadership as Chancellor of Jember University for the second time. “Congratulations and success to Mr. Iwan Taruna; hopefully he will be given smoothness and ease in leading the University of Jember for the next four years,” said Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA Jember University.

For your information, in the election for the chancellor (pilrek) of the University of Jember this period, there were 127 votes being contested. In detail, 83 Senate votes are equivalent to 65 percent of the vote, and 44 votes by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia are equivalent to 35 percent of the vote. The event took place during a closed senate meeting at the UNEJ Rectorate Building. The regional election process was short, starting at 09.00 and ending at 11.30.
